Barbara Ann (Hussey) Hill passed away August 9, 2004, in her beloved home in Bagdad, Florida. Born April 2, 1934. in Touro Infirmary, New Orleans, Louisiana, she was the daughter of Alvin M. Hussey and Cora Mecklin Hussey. She was a descendant of two Revolutionary War heroes, the Rev. John Simpson and Col. John Moffett.

After attending the Convent of the Sacred Heart, she held positions at the Japanese Consulate and WDSU. She married Ray Hill on December 18, 1957, at Chase Field Naval Air Station near Beeville, Texas. During 46 years of being married to Ray and the Navy, she traveled the western world, facing all life’s challenges confidently and bravely, using them as learning experiences. She read extensively, especially history archaeology and religion, and was a consummate communicator. Besides English, she knew French and German, and had even studied Egyptian Hieroglyphics.

Barbara attended the University of West Florida in 1986, 1987 and 1988, studying pottery making.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lynn M. Moore.

Survivors include her husband, CDR Raymond W. Hill, USN Ret., of Bagdad, and her brother, James H. Hussey of New Orleans.
