Abel Henry Hopkins, 81, of Silo, Oklahoma passed away June 25, 1998, at his residence. He was born May 11, 1917, in Bray, Oklahoma to Thomas Otto Hopkins and Dora (Wade) Hopkins.

He attended Bray Schools and was a member of the Armstrong Baptist Church. He was a retired farmer and a mechanic. He also drove a bus and was a mechanic for Silo Schools.

Mr. Hopkins married Lorene Fryer on November 9, 1935 in Caney, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Dora Hopkins, daughter Charlotte Sheffield on November 26, 1995, son, Teddy Hopkins, in 1953, and one sister.

Survivors include his wife, Lorene Hopkins, Silo; sons Donald Joe Hopkins, Silo, and Eddie Don Hopkins, Duncan, Oklahoma; daughters, Betty Scarborough, Whiteface, Texas, Karen Schmitz and Toby Greenhill, both of Silo, Peggy Harris, Denison, Texas, Sheila Lamon, Ada, Sherry Richey, Mason, Texas, and Donna Bush, Pottsboro, Texas; brothers Thomas Lee Hopkins and Roy Paul Hopkins, both of Caddo, and Sam Hopkins, Silo; sisters Rosie Fry, Jewell Pair and Lucille Hopkins, all of Durant, Ruby McCrady, Mead, and Mary Seales, Wichita Falls, Texas, 23 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
