Willie A. Gallop, 65 of Altus, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, March 9, 1999 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. He was born January 18, 1934 in Popular Branch, North Carolina, to Cleo Gallop of Dunstance who preceded him in death.

Mr. Gallop joined the Christian Advocate Baptist Church in Popular Branch at an early age. He graduated from Curritick Union High School in 1952. During his high school years, he was an avid basketball player. Following his high school graduation, he enlisted in the Air Force where he served 20 years as a security policeman. He received his associate’s degree in criminology from Western Oklahoma State College and attended Cameron University.

Willie and Frances Aline Williams were married April 9, 1971, in Vernon, Texas. After military retirement, he joined the Altus Police Department where he was chosen Police Officer of the Year in 1993. He served 23 years and retired in 1996 as a lieutenant.

He was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church where he served as a financial secretary for many years. He was a 33rd Degree Mason, a member of Golden Limit Consistory, Past Master of St James Lodge #229, and member of James Crane Chapter #37, Holy Royal Arch Mason, Worthy Joshua of Myrtle B. Scott Court #78 Heroines of Jericho.

Mr. Gallop is survived by his wife; mother, Adgenora Case of Jarnisburg, North Carolina; three children, Veronica Dubose and Willie Gallop, Jr. both of Vallejo, California, and Joseph Gallop of Hercules, California; four step-children, June Lee of Altus, Valerie Robinson of Lakenheath, England, Patricia Valmore of Houston, Texas, and Charles Jackson of Dallas, Texas; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Fleetwood Dunstance, Jr. of Atlanta and Myron Dunstance of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; one sister-in-law, Mildred Neely and husband, Thomas of Lompor, California; one brother-in-law, Junious Williams, Jr. of Altus.
