Louie Ernest Griffin, 92, of Durant, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2000 in his residence. The son of John Isac and Mattie Birkett Griffin, he was born August 7, 1907, in Honey Grove, Texas.

He married Ora Belle Wilkinson. Louie attended school in Fannin County and later worked for Libby’s Canning Factory in California. He spent many years in Bryan County raising cattle around Bennington and Bokchito areas. He enjoyed fishing and playing bingo.

Preceding him in death were his parents, wife in 1995, two brothers and a sisiter.

Survivors include nieces, Wanda Hyde of Durant, Joella Orbison, Crowley, Texas, Joyce Johnston, Sherman, Texas, Janet Percell, Irving, Texas, and Dorothy Heacock of Oregan; nephews, Frank Percell, Durant, and his special friends, Dellie Faye Owens and Joe and LaVern Elrod of Durant.
