Edna Imogene Williams Gibson, 67, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2000 at Norman Reginal Hospital in Norman, Oklahom. She was born on May 8, 1932 in Finley, Oklahoma to Harvey and Ethel (Sherred) Williams.

Edna attended school in Finley, Antlers, Goodland and Chilocco Indian School, graduating in 1951 from Chilocco. She then attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma from 1951 to 1953, majoring in elementary education. She met her husband, Bennie Gibson, in 1951 while at Southeastern. They were married on June 6, 1953 at Old Cedar Church in Finley, Oklahoma and shortly thereafter moved to Shiprock, New Mexico to start their teaching careers.

Mrs. Gibson worked for the schools on the Navajo Reservation in Shiprock, first as a teacher and later as a librerian. She loved books and passed it on to her children and grandchildren who are avid readers.

Edna and Bennie were founding members of the Methodist Church in Shiprock and continued as charter members after retiring to Finley.
