William Tobias Sam Fitzer, 81, of Van Buren, Arkansas, passed away February 8, 2007, in Van Buren. He was born February 4, 1926, in Lona Valley, Oklahoma, to William Tobias and Annie Trollinger Fitzer.

Sam served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, reaching the rank of Seaman 1st Class. He was a member of the Disabled Veterans of America. He enjoyed gardening, going to auctions, and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by one son, William Sam Fitzer; his parents; two sisters, Mary Neal and Ruth Wren; and one infant brother.

Survivors include his wife, Clarice Fitzer of the home; one daughter, Sonya Kay Goodwin and Steve Greene of Van Buren; two sons, Carl Wade Fitzer and Dale Shayne Fitzer, both of Van Buren; four sisters, Juanita Townley of Whitefield, Oklahoma, and Naomi Cox, Ramona Mitchell and Virginia Spears, all of Stigler, Oklahoma; four brothers, Joe Fitzer, James Fitzer and Bill Fitzer, all of Stigler, and John Fitzer of Briartown, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Felicia McGuffy, Shayna Gago, Andrew Fitzer and James Garrett; six great-grandchildren, Hailey Crosswhite, Jessica Hill, Dustin Hill, T.J. McGuffy, Sydni Garrett and Elisa Garrett.
