James Doodle Fitzer passed away September 3, 2007, at his home. He was born on May 23, 1937, on Beaver Mountain to Tobe and Anna Trollinger Fitzer. Doodle grew up on Beaver Mountain and attended school at Rocky Ridge and Stigler High School, graduating with the class of 1955.

He then enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving six years. He went on to work many years as a carpenter in Oklahoma and California. Doodle was a hard worker and loved his family. In his free time you could usually find him in one of the nearby creeks searching for arrowheads.

He met his wife, Rosareta Reta Brewster in 1963. They later married and had two children. He was a longtime member of Rocky Ridge Baptist Church where he served as deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and teacher.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, David Fitzer; two sisters, Ruth Wren and Mary Neal; two brothers, Sam Fitzer and an infant brother.

Survivors include his wife of the home; daughter Carol Lynn Fitzer Apple and husband Billy of Whitefield; three grandchildren, Jessica and Garrett Apple of Whitefield and Gabe Fitzer of Kinta; daughter-in-law, Regina OKelley and husband Jim of Kinta; four sisters, Virginia Spears and Gary, Ramona Mitchell, Naoma Cox, Juanita Townley and husband Bill; three brothers, Bill Fitzer and wife Joann, John Fitzer and wife Judy, Joe Fitzer and wife Mae, all of Stigler.
