Ben Eugene Engavo Sr. passed away September 16, 2008, at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. He was born March 5, 1965, in Lander, Wyoming, the son of Billie Daney Engavo and Joseph Engavo Sr. and the grandson of the late Rev. Ben and Edith Daney of Talihina. A traditional Indian funeral was held at the family residence in Fort Washakie, Wyoming.
Ben enjoyed art, drawing, music, horses, and being with family and friends. He attended school at Fort Washakie, Riverside Indian School in Anadarko, and Lander Valley High School. He was a carpenter by trade.
Survivors include his mother; brothers, Joseph Jr., Eric and Tom Engavo of Fort Washakie and John Engavo of Riverton, Wyoming; sisters, Vickie and Teresa Engavo of Fort Washakie, Eunice Engavo of Blackfoot, Idaho, and Edith Woodley of Newberg, Oregon; his children, Ben Engavo Jr. and Tiffany Ann Engavo of Missoula, Montana; grandson, Vincent Eugene Zavarelli, and numerous other family members in Oklahoma.
