Alvin “Blackhawk” Ervin, 83, passed away June 7, 2000 at his home in Hartshore, Oklahoma. He was born on June 28, 1916 in the Craig community south of Harshorne to Columbus Williams and Lillie Mae (Tucker) Ervin. His father, born at Ft. Towson, was an original enrollee of the Choctaw Nation and one of the first Indian students to attend Jones Academy when it was just a one room school. Hawk also attended Jones for a short while.

He was the great-great-great-grandson of Hopia Iskini (Little Leader)
