Wilburn Durant, 88, of Wilburton, Oklahoma passed away Friday, September 24, 1999 at a local nursing home.

Wilburn was born August 12, 1911 in Bennington, Oklahoma to Tinsley Pisitubbi. He married Beatrice Berry on July 17, 1951 in McAlester, Oklahoma. Wilburn lived most of his life in the Wilburton area and was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church and was a self-employed carpenter. Wilburn served in the Marine Corps during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Durant, of Wilburton; two sons, Larry Durant of LeFlore, Oklahoma and Randy Durant of Muldrow, Oklahoma; daughter, LaDonna Gilpen of Wilburton; sister, Edna Peters of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and one daughter.
