Lawrence Cochnauer, 72, passed away December 18 at his home in Grandfeild. The son of Nicholas and Sally Dudley Cocnauer, he was born on May 1, 1918, in Bennington, Oklahoma, where he grew up and attended school. He moved to the Grandfield area in 1939, and he had lied there for the remainder of his life. He was a former Tillman County employee, and was a retired farm laborer. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served from December 19, 1939 to August 29, 1942. He was a member of Grandfield Calvary Baptist Church. He was married to Rose McGarry on June 1, 1943 in Fredrick. Survivors include a daughter, Jo Ann Heuman, of Aubrey, Texas; a step-daughter, Neoma Bushy of Lewisville, Texas; a step-son, Bill McGarry, of Burkurnett, Texas; a brother, Lone Cochnauer, of Bennington, Oklahoma, and five grandchildren. One son, Jacky, preceded him in death in May 1984.
