John Everett Carlton, Sr passed way at the age of 70 on June 8, 1997 at a hospital in Sacramento, California. He was born on March 28, 1927 in Oklahoma. Mr. Carlton had been a resident of Camino for the past 24 years.

He and his wife, Chlorus Ione Carlton had recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 14, 1997. The party was a family reunion that broth together 30 family members to join them in celebrating. He was retired from the United States Navy after 20 years of service. He served in World War II and the Korean Conflict.

He worked as a self-employed custom drapery manufacturer for 27 years.

He was a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and the Fleet Reserve.

His family said he loved the quiet of the mountains and the music of Janis Joplin and of Louie Armstrong.

He is survived by his wife, Chlorus of Camino, two sons, John E. Carlton Jr of San Ramon and James A. Carlton of Pennsylvania two daughters, Judith L. Carlton of San Diego and Jacqueline Kroeber of Camino. He will be greatly missed by his six grandchildren. Mr. Carlton was preceded in death by his brother and two sisters.
