James Frederick “Sarge” Choate, 77, of Drain, Oregon, passed away April 18, 2006, from age-related causes. He was born January 2, 1929, in Indianola, Oklahoma, to George R. Sr. and Lois Edens Choate.
He became an Eagle Scout in 1946. He graduated from high school in Watonga, Oklahoma, in 1947 and he served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1948 to 1968, serving at Chosin Reservoir, Korea, in 1950. He received a Marine commendation for bravery under fire in Korea. During his life, he traveled around the world.
He married Connie Dickenson in Drain. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his wife and one brother, George R. Choate Jr.
