William Jennings Bryan, age 65, of Durant, Oklahoma passed away on January 23, 1995 at Wister.
He was born on April 18, 1929 to Clyde and Neva Bryan in Wister. He married Betty Hammer of March 6, 1950 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was a restaurant owner.
Bill graduated from Wister High School and attended Poteau Community College. He was a retired Rock Island agent with 23 years of service. He then continued working in life as co-owner of several Kentucky Fried Chicken franchises. He was a 25 year member of the Durant Elks Lodge.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wister.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Hanmer; his parents, Clyde and Neba Bryan; his brother, Carroll Bryan and a grandson, Michael Nicolas Bryan.
His survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy Gail and Larry McAlester of LeFlore, Oklahoma and Elizabeth and Mack Taylor of Durant; one son and daughter-ion-law Stephen Lawrence and Jan Bryan of Oklahoma City and eight grandchildren, Keith, Mindy, Kimberly, Jeff, Dustin, Angie, Victoria and Lindsay Beth.
