James A. “Jim” Beal, original enrollee, was born on October 30, 1900 in Albany, Oklahoma to Thomas Turner Beal and Verdie (Webster) Beal. He passed away on March 3, 1996 at Calera Manor Nursing Home.

He married Yvonne “Vonnie” Brese in Durant in 1925.

He attended Albany school and was a member o Odd Fellows Lodge.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was of the Baptist Faith. He was retiree from Civil Service Auto Maintenance and as a jailor for the Bryan County Sheriff’s Department.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on May 6, 1981; a brother, Earl Beal; six sisters, Anna Mae Woods, Myrtle Youree, Lillie Wright, Jane Witherspoon, Minnie Grant and Pauline Anderson.

He is survived by a son, Edward Guinn Beal of Victor, New York; a brother, Edward Lee Beal of La Luz, New Mexico; four grandchildren; 12 great-children, eight great-great-grandchildren and 18 nieces and nephews.
