The Rev. Douglas Henry Matthew Brown, 79, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2003. He was born May 16, 1923, in Poteau, Oklahoma to the Rev. and Mrs. Eddie Brown. He was the eldest of nine children.

Douglas was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He fought to liberate several concentration camps, was in the Battle of the Bulge and saw combat in France and the South Pacific.

Upon returning from his overseas tour, he made his home in San Luis Obispo County until 1955, at which time he moved to Cudahy. He moved to Creston in 1978, where he raised grandkids and livestock. He moved to Atascadero in 2001.

Pastor Brown was an ordained Assemblies 0f God 56 years. He pioneered the Grover Beach First Assembly of God, was the Pastors of Cudahy First Assembly of God, and the Templeton First Assembly of God.

The Rev. Brown loved the Lord and touched many lives with the message of Jesus Christ. Papa loved gospel music and a house full of family and friends. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother.
