Teresa Jackson is employed as the Senior Executive Officer of Choctaw Health Services. She has worked for the tribe since 1999. Beginning as Comptroller of the Talihina Hospital, she later worked as business office Director in 2001 and was then promoted to Hospital Administrator in 2006.
Teresa is a 1987 graduate of Southeastern Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. She serves as the Vice-Chair on the Oklahoma Board of Regents for Eastern Oklahoma State College, the Kiamichi Vo-Tech Talihina Campus Advisory Committee and the Texoma Medical Women’s Advisory Committee. She sits on the Oklahoma City Area Inter-Tribal Health Board and is the Vice-Chair of the Inter-Tribal Council Health Board.
She has been honored by the Indian Health Service with a Merit Award in 2005. This was for implementing new software to enhance third-party billing to increase revenue for the tribe. Teresa says that the bottom line to increase more services for tribal members is always what spurs her on.
Advice she shares is to “treat others the way you expect to be treated and to live each day to it’s full potential.”
Her passion is doing things with her family. She loves being involved with her children’s activities. She has been married to her husband, Gary since 1986 and they make their home at Hartshorne. They have two children: Blake is a student at OU College of Law and Emily is a Junior at Hartshorne High School.
Teresa and her family attend the Catholic Church at Hartshorne. She says she has a special affinity for the children’s programs and enjoys working with the youth.
