Lisa Reed is Executive Director of Public Relations for the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. She has over 30 years experience in journalism and public relations. Following her 17-year career at the Durant Daily Democrat, Lisa joined the Nation as Assistant Editor of the Biskinik in 1998. She has also served as Editor and Media Director, developing the department into an innovative, award-winning branch of communications.
Lisa oversees Public Relations, Marketing, Web, Media and Mailing/Circulation Services.
The importance of maintaining a connection for tribal members is high on Lisa’s priorities. News is delivered around the world and social media is becoming an important tool for sharing information. Change is exciting, she says, and finding new ways to educate others about the Choctaw Nation, its culture, successes and values is important. She has written a book for children, “The Rabbit Hunt” and preparing the second in the series for publication, “Hushi Balbaha – The Mockingbird”. Both are fictional accounts based on Choctaw historian Olin Williams’ experiences as a young boy, and illustrated by Ruby Bolding.
Lisa and her husband, George, reside in Silo, Oklahoma. They have two daughters and two grandchildren. (800) 522-6170 Ext. 2245
