there is a callie jackson on the dawes roll but they are listed as a parent of a family and are probably male.

partial characters in the front of a name are acceptable.

if she is deceased after 1/1/1937, you could get a copy of her social security application, which would give you dates, locations and parents’ names. when she applied for social security, she probably submitted a delayed birth certificate because birth certificates were rare on the frontier. you could probably get a copy of that also.

genealogists use names, dates, locations, children and spouses to match records. if you have a common surname, you need to give more information rather thann less. if you post about women, it is helpful to include the maiden name and the married name and designate which one is the maiden name.

first of all, heritage and tribal enrollment are two different things. many times natives didn’t apply for enrollment because 1) they didn’t qualify, 2) they were philosophically opposed to enrollment, 3) they didn’t have documentation, or 4) they were mississippi choctaw and their ancestor had accepted land or benefits in lieu of tribal enrollment.

the dawes roll was taken 1896-1906, so you should trace your ancestors down to that time period. mostly, they had to be living in oklahoma by that time and agree to live there permanently.

if the name is common, you may find too many possible records.

No I have not contacted anyone. After doing more research I don not think that is my great grandmother Callie Jackson. That Callie had two children and I do not think my great grandmother had any children before meeting my great grandfather.
I would like to try this Robert Jackson you have listed in a previous post. She is about the correct age and in the same area. There could not have been too many Callie Jackson’s of that same age running around Bache Ok in 1902!

ok, so the 1910-1930 census records are probably correct.
do you have thomas keith’s death certificate? how about callie’s?

it sounds as if you want tribal enrollment information but are not able to find your family on the dawes roll.

I would like both genealogical information and tribal enrollment. I got the names of her parents from her death records, Cowlitz county Washington Dec 7 1949 was her death date. Enrollment was something my dad always wanted but never got before he passed.
Yes, Thomas and Callie were married on May 6, 1904 in Bache. I have sent to the Pittsburg County Genealogical Society to find out how to obtain a marriage certificate copy. I do not know why she is not listed with the family. She would have been older than Nellie and her middle name started with an M. I do not have Callie’s death certificate but I can obtain one from Cowlitz County (WA) where she died.

there were many mississippi choctaw and other tribes that did not qualify for enrollment in one of the five major tribes listed on the dawes roll. use geographic location in oklahoma and her parents’ birthplaces to guide you on that.

even if i widen my search to the whole united states, i am not finding your relative with similar informamtion. this is not particularly unusual, since many families were illiterate and we didn’t use names, ages, locations as primary identification, as we do now.

her social security application would have information for you. since you know where and when she passed away, her name at the time of her passing, you might find information in her social security application. it would have her parents’ names, her birthplace and birthdate. anyone who passed away after 1/1/1937 has an application on file. after you get her birthdate and birth location, you can request a copy of her birth certificate or delayed birth certificate from the state where she was born.

the 1890 census was burned, or i would try to look her up there. but since it doesn’t exist, that is no help.

those are the directions i would go, to try to get over the callie information hump.

with her parents, the links to the side and bottom of the dawes roll webpage might help you, particular database, rolls and native census records.

Callie had a brother named Robert Andrew Jackson. There were 5 boys and 4 girls in the family. I don’t have any other names. Her parents are burried in Red Oak Cemetery in Bache, Ok.
