Sarah Belvin was born March 3, 1914, in Boswell OK, the daughter of Solomon Belvin and Virgie (Frazier) Belvin and was a lifelong resident of Boswell. She died on May 6, 2011, in Boswell. Sarah was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved cooking and gardening (pulling weeds while in a wheelchair). Sarah had lots of pride and always kept her family fed. Being one of the “Golden Girls,” she was very social and loved to go.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Henry Belvin; sons Henry Belvin, Jr., and Baby Belvin; daughter Jimmie Lou Hunt; sisters Lillie Pierce and Sissy Belvin; and brothers Simon Belvin, Stephen Belvin, and Jonas Belvin.
Survivors include her sons, Virgil “Buddy” Belvin of Valliant OK, Vernon Lee Belvin of Midwest City OK, Dante Belvin of Boswell, John Robert Belvin of Boswell, Richard Mark Belvin of Boswell, Solomon James Belvin of Shawnee OK, and Jerry Paul Belvin of Boswell; daughters Lavada Duke of Atoka OK, Sarah Virginia “Weaver” Rutledge of Millerton OK, and Debra Bacon of Boswell; 38 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; 40 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.
