Hi! I’m looking for information on Cochran’s Academy. I spend a lot of time doing genealogical research & I’ve run across this place on several maps & just wondered what it was. I have googled it & looked through some books to no avail. I was just wondering what Cochran’s was & where it was located as I live in that general area. Thanks!

formerly chickasaw national academy, so you could contact that tribe for information.
also associated with the methodist church, according to this book.
photos posted to the internet might enrich some people’s family trees.
the oklahoma state archives or oklahoma historical society might have lists of students and staff.
rootsweb.com also has location webpages and are usually willing to take transcribed entries or photographs.
oklahoma state university library may also be able to help you.

Suzanne, thank you so much for your timely response. I had run across the conversation on history-sites.com & it had piqued my interest as I had seen Cochran’s Academy on the old maps before. The link to the Chronicles of Oklahoma PDF has been most certainly helpful. I will check with the Chickasaw historical office & see if I can find out further information.
