I am 1/4 Choctaw and have localized scleroderma and occasional leg and foot burning itching. Seems to me that I had read on a medical site (Medscape) that CREST is notably higher in those of Choctaw descent.
One of the physicians I work with was saying that Dr. Eleanor Lipsmyer (who works as the medical facility that I work in-University of Arkansas Medical Sciences Department of Rheumatology) was actually the physician who put all the symptoms together to name CREST. I understand that she is retiring soon, so may not be taking new patients.

I was diagnosed with Scleroderma in 2008. Apparently, the Choctaws with Scleroderma living here in Oklahoma are relatives. I have lived here all my life, but never met anyone who has this disease, that I know of. I would be very interested to speak with another Choctaw with Scleroderma for genealogical reasons. I was denied for disability, and am currently being treated for the symptoms I have.
