According to my 4th great grandfather, there were some Ketchums who went West from New England with a group of Native Americans. I’m not sure of the date, but expect it must have been late 1500s or early 16oos. The supposed proof of this has long since been lost. I am wondering if Thomas S. Ketcham might be from that family of Ketchums.

oklahoma was once known as indian territory. it became a state in 1907. but the native migration occurred around the late 1830s from the southeastern reservations in MS/AL to indian territory.

and before the late 1830s, the area was known as the arkansas territory.
