Descendant Status

Hi, I’m currently an enrolled member with Mvskoke (Creek) Nation. My mother’s father was enrolled with the Absentee Shawnee tribe, my mother, siblings and myself were able to apply for descendant status with the Absentee Shawnee tribe. I received a letter stating I am not an enrolled member but a descendant of the Absentee Shawnees. With that being said my questions are: Does Mississippi Choctaws offer that same option? Can an individual file for a descendant status? If so, what information is needed to do so? I appreciate your help

this is the choctaw tribe of oklahoma. the mississippi choctaw tribe has a different website. you have to look at the requirements for tribal membership.

this tribe requirements are that you must be directly related to an original enrollee. i do not know what other tribes require.

some tribes do not allow dual enrollment in two tribes. so check that out with your current tribe and any potential tribe that you might qualify for.
