Tiffany I. Walker

Description of Art: The world is infinitely complex- everything interacts with something. A chair with straight lines make the curves in a woman’s legs appear softer.  Painting a gray sky behind a white dove can induce a purity the dove might not have had before. A tree growing on the bank of a pond alters the reflection of the water. I love the endless interactions between elements. Their colors, forms, and intensity continuously influence each other. The dynamics of these interactions take on a life of their own with a unique persona and equally unique effect on its viewer. Art can present the opportunity for deeper understanding or new perspective.  Just like a good book or movie, art can transport a person to another reality. Or often the reality is the same, but understanding and insight that is gained through the experience can change the view of the world. This doesn’t always happen on a monumental scale. Eyes don’t have to be opened and ready to change the world. It can be as subtle as making a day better, questioning the status quo, or pondering a color.

The world is full of predictability and surprise. Within this constant interplay is chaos and simplicity. As an artist, I choose to push aside the chaos and focus on how the elements interact at their most basic level. My goal is to present these interactions in a way that encourage an emotional or intellectual response that begs to be explored. In this journey is the essence of personal growth.
