Our Mission
The Choctaw Nation maintains and operates with the philosophy that Alcohol and Substance
Abuse is a disease amenable to treatment, not a moral issue. With this believe and
conviction the following is our goal:
Provide a comprehensive and professional program, to show positive outcomes in preventing,
reducing, and treating all individuals suffering from chemical dependency whether young or
old.
We believe that people who are postdetoxification, and/or, have a life threatening
relationship with substances need a period of time totally substance free. That is through
the experience of living one life without the support of mood altering chemicals, facing
and dealing with the issues that arise from rebuilding a life, that a person will discover
their own weakness and strengths. From this position they are then able to make informed
choices about whether they will pursue a life of abstinence. We are eclectic in our
approach, and do not work with one specific model of therapy. We operate using a variety
of intervention strategies e.g. Motivational Interviewing, Behavioral and Cognitive
Therapy, Modified 12 Step, Counseling Skills, Relapse Prevention and health Awareness. We
incorporate each individual's choices into his/her treatment plan. This plan is constantly
monitored and modified to achieve the most positive intervention possible.
Treatment Offered
Choctaw Nation Recovery center offers a twenty-eight (28) day program including individual
counseling, group counseling and marriage and family counseling. The Recovery Center is a
spiritually based treatment facility. Individual counseling is one-on-one counseling
between the client and their primary counselor. The goal of every clients positive
personality growth and the development of effective problem solving, decision making and
general coping skills. Depression, anxiety, anger, inadequate self-concept, ineffective
social skills and other problems are treated. The anticipated outcome of the foregoing
process is a positive concept of self with a priority issue of sobriety. Group sessions
generally consist of four to ten members. Individuals, in their interaction with others,
gain new insights into their behavior and feelings. This form of counseling inspires
changes which result in more satisfying relationships and life experiences. Marriage and
family counseling goals are to improve the quality of life within the family system of
each client as well as for the individual members. Insights are sought into the possible
causes of emotional stress and dysfunction in the home. The staff of the Recovery Center
strives to facilitate significant change in the individual client enabling him or her to
return to society and live a normal, productive life without the support or use of alcohol
or other chemicals.
