Mary Adeline (Boland) Power passed away December 10, 2004, at the Caddo Nursing Home, Caddo, Oklahoma. She was born February 6, 1914, in Caddo to John L. Boland and Elizabeth Marie Turnbull, an original enrollee.
She attended Caddo Public Schools and graduated from Southeastern State College in 1935. She worked at the Durant Democrat and Caddo Herald until 1941. She married William Horace Power in 1937 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
They moved to McAlester, Oklahoma, in 1947 where she owned and taught at the McAlester Business College until 1952. She then taught at St. Johns Catholic School, McAlester Junior High School and Puterbaugh Middle School until her retirement in 1979. She was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church, the St. Johns Altar Society, the Pittsburg County Retired Teachers Association and the McAlester Fortnightly Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband; sisters, Margarette and Zuleika, and her brother, Jack.
Survivors include three sons, James Edmond Power of Lawrence, Kansas, Dr. William Lloyd Power of Albuquerque and John Charles Power of Chicago; two granddaughters, Corina and Celeste of Albuquerque, and one niece, Mary Jo Summerville of Irving, Texas.
