We are constantly adding links and articles, so please check back often if you can't find what you are looking for right away. ?-1834 Pre-Removal
Prior to the removal of the Choctaws from their Mississippi lands they shared the history of that region. Removal began in 1831, and continued into 1834, with a portion of the Choctaw People remaining in Mississippi.
1834-1907 Post-Removal
Following the from their lands in the southern part of America, to their new lands in Indian Territory many changes took place.
1907-1972
This was the period in Choctaw history during which tribal sovernty was most ill defined, and most at risk. It was also a period in which much of the groundwork was laid for the programs we have today. 1972 marked the begining of post-removal elected Principal Chiefs.
1972-1990
Generally this covers events from 1972 to 1990. More recent event information can be found in the News Archives
